Joost van Boekhold

Associate Engineer (he/him)

Joost has nearly two decades of expertise in traffic design, and he steers the development of plans for various traffic components, such as pavement markings, signing, guide signs, traffic signals, maintenance of traffic, ITMS, and lighting. Joost shows a great affinity for complete streets, crafting accessible transit, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities. His approach is distinguished by a focus on the end-user’s experience, the contextual nuances of the location, and the intricate interplay within the overarching transportation network.

Joost thrives on achieving collaborative solutions that seamlessly blend function and form. For him, the design process is the art of reconciliation, translating a project’s purpose and need into an outcome that harmonizes the project’s goals, the site’s constraints, and innovative design ideas.

Joost has master’s degrees in architecture and civil engineering from the Delft University of Technology and the University of Delaware, respectively. In his leisure, he finds joy in the simple pleasures of life with his family—riding bicycles on various terrains, exploring trails on foot, and indulging in Andrew Wyeth’s art.
