Fernando Sotelo
Principal Engineer
Fernando is a traffic engineer with more than 20 years of experience in transportation planning. He has provided technical studies for land use projects under environmental review, serving as the technical lead for traffic impact analyses and parking demand studies, among others. His traffic and parking experience includes analyses for schools as well as industrial, mixed-use, commercial, and recreational projects in southern and northern California. Fernando understands the complexities of transportation planning and plays a key role in coordinating with local and state agencies, stakeholder groups, developers, and the general public. He focuses particular attention on issues such as vehicular circulation, site access, queuing, and pedestrian travel and safety. Most recently, Fernando has been involved with the implementation of new VMT metrics for several agencies in California, and has prepared transportation sections for EIRs. In addition to his experience in traffic, Fernando has prepared hundreds of technical studies for noise and air quality analyses related to a variety of projects. Outside of work, Fernando enjoys spending time with his kids, skiing, camping, and cycling.
