Chris Romano
Associate Planner (He/Him)
Chris specializes in developing equitable, community-driven, context-sensitive, and data-informed solutions for complex transportation projects. With a passion for active transportation and placemaking, he has spent his career making places better for people through complete streets retrofits and urban design using a safe systems approach. Having led projects in both the public and private sectors, Chris has experience building consensus between multiple agencies, elected officials, and the community. As a consultant, he has worked on multimodal corridor studies and area-wide plans on all scales. While employed at the San Diego Association of Governments, he managed over $100 million in capital projects from SANDAG’s Regional Bike Early Action Program, from outreach and planning through permitting, final design, and construction. These projects include protected bikeways, bike boulevards, and the City of San Diego’s first pedestrian-focused promenade. When he is not working, you can find Chris exploring new cities by foot or bike, trying new restaurants, or practicing HIIT and yoga.
