Alexandra Jahnle
Associate Engineer

Alexandra is a versatile transportation engineer whose national experience spans policy, analysis, design, and implementation. She has extensive knowledge applying the Highway Safety Manual and Highway Capacity Manual to traffic operations analyses, safety studies, intersection control evaluations, multimodal design projects, and statewide screening applications. She understands the design challenges of an urban context and the importance of speed management in achieving safety goals, which underpin much of her work. She managed the update to the “Traffic Calming” chapter of PennDOT’s Design Manual 2, which included a context-based toolbox of traffic calming treatments. In Boston, she designed traffic calming measures for three neighborhood slow zones, containing 110 speed humps, six raised crosswalks, 15 curb extensions, and 32 pedestrian curb ramps. She also led the evaluation of the City of Philadelphia’s Traffic Calming Request program, where Kittelson analyzed existing policy, conducted peer city interviews, researched best practices, and conducted spatial analyses to identify and prioritize eligible streets. In her free time, Alexandra can be found on the court playing ball hockey in Philadelphia.
