Calling all 2025 interns! If you are a current student (undergraduate, graduate, or PhD) with an interest in exploring the transportation planning and engineering profession, an open mind and eagerness to learn, the ability to think critically and solve complex problems, and a drive to transform how communities move, we invite you to apply for our Summer 2025 internship program.

"If I had not explored this spark of interest through an internship, I genuinely don't know where I would be in my career. The experience not only set me on the path of transportation but also set me up for a very fulfilling career."

- Jade Ma, Transportation Analyst

At Kittelson, interns have the same responsibilities as transportation analysts. They work on real projects, including software analysis, field work, technical writing, graphics development, client meetings, public engagement, and work sessions. Each intern is placed in a Kittelson office and paired with a team of mentors, a decision we make thoughtfully in accordance with each intern’s preferences and what aspects of the profession interest them the most.

Interns also have a variety of opportunities to explore transportation outside of projects, through training sessions, regular meetings with their intern cohort, meet-and-greets with Kittelson team members, and the two-day SCOUT Summit, where all interns travel to one Kittelson office to meet in person and engage in career development sessions, Q&A panels with firm leaders and industry professionals outside Kittelson, and tours of built transportation improvements.

Students can also glean advice about transportation careers through watching our new Career Conversations video series. In this collection of 12 videos, Kittelson team members talk about choosing a focus in the transportation profession, finding the right work environment, pursuing meaningful mentorship opportunities, evaluating financial packages, and other decisions students navigate as they strive to make a strong career start.
