Position: Transportation Planner II
Location: Tampa, Florida
Job Duties:
- Conduct research, data analysis and visualization in support of strategic planning, policy analysis, and long-range transportation planning.
- Facilitate effective team communications with clients, agencies, consultants, and other team members.
- Facilitate meetings with project clients and stakeholders.
- Present technical findings and analysis at project meetings and public meetings.
- Support project pursuits and proposal preparation.
- Support the scripting and development of web-based tools for transportation data analysis & visualization.
- Prepare complete technical memoranda and sections of whole engineering/planning reports.
- Independently review all routine and moderately complex analyses, manage own work and peer staff’s work output, including task schedule and budget.
- Coordinate client interactions and activity for all project-related work.
- Mentor other staff in deliverables production and workload/time management.
- Create site plans to support urban design projects.
Salary from: $114,088.00 / year
Education: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted); and
Experience: 4 years’ [post-bachelor’s] experience as Transportation Analyst, Transportation Planner or similar position.
Skills/Requirements:
4 years’ experience working with each of the following:
- Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) data practices and software, including Florida Traffic Online, Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) database, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) portals, and FDOT Source Book.
- Data analytics using programming languages including Python and R.
- Data visualization tools including Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.
- Geospatial data processing and analysis with ESRI products including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
- Spreadsheet processing, and advanced use of Microsoft products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project.
- Transportation planning for bicycles and pedestrians.
Two years’ experience working with each of the following:
- Developing web-based tools with JavaScript, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) planning and roadway design concepts, including context classification, speed management, and access management.
- Urban design software including AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.
