Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer/Planner to contribute to innovative projects and help grow our practice. This role involves managing and executing multimodal transportation projects, collaborating with national and regional leaders, and fostering client relationships. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a passion for enhancing transportation systems through engineering and planning solutions.
- Project Leadership & Management: Serve as a Project Manager or Task Lead, overseeing planning and preliminary/conceptual/final design for multimodal transportation projects, including roadways, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure.
- Technical Expertise: Conduct traffic and safety analyses, corridor studies, and long-range transportation planning while ensuring adherence to quality standards. Expertise in intelligent transportation systems, connected/automated transportation, and transportation operations is desirable.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Lead and facilitate public involvement efforts, stakeholder meetings, and consensus-building workshops to ensure community-focused solutions.
- Business Development: Support proposal writing, marketing initiatives, and client relations to expand our project portfolio.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Foster the growth of junior- and mid-level staff by mentoring and guiding them in design, analysis, and project management.
- Budget & Schedule Oversight: Develop, maintain, and update project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in transportation planning and engineering with a focus on multimodal urban mobility.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and oversee technical deliverables.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to develop reports, presentations, and data visualizations to convey findings effectively.
- Ability to develop client relationships and pursue business development opportunities.
Additional Qualifications
- Familiarity with the procedures and methodologies published in the major national guidelines (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD) and TxDOT guidelines.
- Ability to tailor a message effectively to an audience.
- Outward focused with an inherent belief in customer service, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Comfortable working with little guidance or oversight in an organization with a relatively flat structure.
- Eager to apply critical thinking and an innovative mindset to complex engineering problems, and to communicate solutions to our clients, project stakeholders, and the general public.
- Entrepreneurial by nature and ready to help grow our firm’s transportation design practice.
- Passion for the transportation profession with a genuine commitment to the profession.

Compensation for this position is based on experience and is a combination of your base salary plus an employer-funded 401K retirement contribution.
